Study programmes with an Arctic focus

West Nordic Studies Governance and Sustainable Management
This master’s programme is organised in cooperation with four other universities (University of Akureyri, University of the Faroe Islands, University of Greenland and University of Nordland, Norway). The objective is to increase knowledge of the common issues of the area. The aim is to graduate candidates that can understand and meet the complicated challenges of coastal Norway, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands (the Nora region) as part of the Circumpolar North complexities and are able to strengthen networking in the area.

Single courses with an Arctic focus
The University of Iceland is ambitious in attracting international students and scholars, and the number of single courses taught in English is steadily increasing.

Study programmes taught in English
The University of Iceland offers several study programmes that are taught fully in English and are therefore open to international students.

Exchange opportunities

University of Iceland International Office
The International Office oversees and manages the international affairs of the University of Iceland. The office is responsible for administrating and developing international student exchange agreements along with participation in international networks and cooperation with academic partners.

Circumpolar Studies
Students at the University of Iceland are able to participate in the Circumpolar Studies program, an exciting way for students attending University of the Arctic member institutions to learn about the North, with courses held in the classroom, online, in the field, and around the world.
